Rooftop Symposium
There is a lot of development on our rooftops, but how do we ensure the highest social value? And who decides what actually happens here? Rooftop Revolution presents: the “battle” for the roof. Inspiring examples and substantive discussions, especially for professionals. ROEF is a proud partner of the symposium.
11.06 – 18.06
HOLLAND FESTIVAL IN POP-UP ROOFTOP GREENHOUSE
ROEF brings the Holland Festival up: a bare plateau on top of Q-Park Westergasfabriek temporarily becomes a lively rooftop greenhouse with an inspiring program. Among others, farmer and maker Anne van Leeuwen and associate artist Nicolas Stemann will work with visitors on the ‘Manifesto for the living in a time of extinction’.

RARe: ART AT HEIGHT
ROEF Art Residency: an art project at height. The first edition ‘RARe – (dis)connect Zuidoost’ focuses on gentrification. Local curators and artists present five artworks on roofs in Amsterdam Zuidoost. They question the image of the gentrifying artist.

DANCE ON THE FACADES
WhyNot brings dance related to the city. In search of more space and a different perspective, dancers take a flight into heights. They give impressive performances and dance along and on the facades. Jump on your bike and watch the short performances. This is part of Julidans.

ROOFTOP CINEMA AT NEMO
At NEMO, the largest rooftop terrace in Amsterdam, you’ll find a weekend of great films. On Friday IDFA Meets will show an artistic documentary. On Saturday ROEF and Cinetree will program this big screen. And of course you’ll have a great view both nights.

Would you like to explore Amsterdam’s roofscape with us? Live music, karaoke, silent disco, theater and mini-workshops will surprise you at great heights. And of course, beautiful views. Go from roof to roof to roof!

GET ON THE ROOF WITH FRINGE FESTIVAL
Get on the roof with Sophie Stravens’ Once Upon A Roof. The solo performance pours a metropolitan theme into a theatrical experience with storytelling, skits, digital soundscapes, singing and even mini-colleges. All around ‘the roof’ as a place in an increasingly crowded city.

ROEF shows the towering potential of the city. Utilized roofs offer opportunities in climate adaptation, sustainable energy needs and crowding in the city. Did you know that the unexplored roofscape of Amsterdam is no less than 12 km²? That is more than 25 times the size of the Vondelpark. The future of the Amsterdam roofscape according to ROEF? The largest public rooftop park in the Netherlands, where you can walk from roof to roof via air bridges! Will you walk with us into the future?
