Inspiring examples and substantive discussions, especially for professionals. ROEF is a proud partner of the symposium.
ROEF brings the Holland Festival up: a bare plateau on top of Q-Park Westergasfabriek temporarily becomes a lively rooftop greenhouse with an inspiring program. Among others, farmer and maker Anne van Leeuwen and associate artist Nicolas Stemann will work with visitors on the ‘Manifesto for the living in a time of extinction’.
ROEF Art Residency: an art project at height. The first edition ‘RARe – (dis)connect Zuidoost’ focuses on gentrification. Local curators and artists present five artworks on roofs in Amsterdam Zuidoost. They question the image of the gentrifying artist.
WhyNot brings dance related to the city. In search of more space and a different perspective, dancers take a flight into heights. They give impressive performances and dance along and on the facades. Jump on your bike and watch the short performances. This is part of Julidans.
At NEMO, the largest rooftop terrace in Amsterdam, you’ll find a weekend of great films. On Friday IDFA Meets will show an artistic documentary. On Saturday ROEF and Cinetree will program this big screen. And of course you’ll have a great view both nights.

Get on the roof with Sophie Stravens’ Once Upon A Roof. The solo performance pours a metropolitan theme into a theatrical experience with storytelling, skits, digital soundscapes, singing and even mini-colleges. All around ‘the roof’ as a place in an increasingly crowded city.
